COMMENT: Truckers grappling with aftertreatment issues

BY ALAN BUNTING. Cummins has become the latest engine supplier to adopt a single-module aftertreatment packaging, where the DPF and SCR installations are combined in a single exhaust system ‘can’.

It is becoming ever clearer that, for diesel-engined trucks and buses especially, ‘real life’ regulatory compliance with limits on greenhouse gas (GHG) and (directly linked) fuel economy – as well as with pollutant emission – is threatened by everyday operational issues.
