The region faces a looming phase out of internal combustion engines (ICE) but suffers a scarcity of affordable electric vehicles (EVs), an area in which the Chinese excel. In China, nearly 150 brands are jockeying for a slice of the passenger car market, but there’s significantly less competition in Europe.
