While technological developments towards autonomous vehicles gain pace, supportive legislation lags behind. The state of California is taking steps to address that with new requirements regarding vehicle testing. Thanks in part to a push from California Senator Alex Padilla, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has made it necessary for companies to obtain an official license to test autonomous drive vehicles on public roads.
