AI is reshaping the logistics industry

Freddie Holmes investigates how a new forecasting platform can accurately predict potential disruptions and implement quick workarounds

Running a logistics operation has evolved from a point of relying on guesswork and instinct to leveraging real-time data streams across a plethora of touchpoints. In part, this is thanks to the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI).

AI has already made its presence felt across the supply chain, helping to keep things running smoothly on the factory floor and assisting fleet operators to make better decisions with their vehicles. Now, it is set to revolutionise global transport planning, and the move could not come at a better time: the automotive industry—like many others—continues to suffer prolonged disruption to the supply chain. Things may only worsen as more parts are shipped around the world to supply electric, connected and autonomous vehicles.
