BNDES, the Brazilian Development Bank, has approved a R$1.2bn (about US$680m) loan for Mercedes-Benz of Brazil to expand production capacity in its São Bernardo do Campo plant, to develop new eco-friendly engines and new light- and medium-duty trucks. The funds also will also go towards modernising the parts distribution plant
