Daimler Trucks has enjoyed success in the North American market with heavy-duty diesel engine production, but new investment at its Redford plant in Michigan will see the OEM making moves into the medium-duty segment. US$375m will be used to install a new manufacturing line at the facility, enabling production of the new DD5 and DD8 engines. The company predicts this will add 170 new jobs.
