A week after the 2015 Frankfurt motor show (IAA), VW of America (VWoA) hosted a glitzy event in Brooklyn, complete with a Lenny Kravitz guest appearance, for the all-important US launch of the 2016 Passat.
Underlining the importance of the car for VWoA, the event was to feature appearances from the new head of the VW brand, Herbert Diess, and Heinz-Jacob Neusser, VW board member in charge of technical development. Just three months into the role, this was an opportunity for Diess and for Volkswagen to signal a new push on the US market.
