Shell is one of the world's largest fuel retailers, with its network of stations serving around 30 million customers a day. That's more than the entire population of Australia. The company employs hundreds of staff to develop fuels that are sold on the forecourt, as well as fuels for motorsport, marine and industrial applications. But the fuel of the future may not be gasoline or diesel, and for a specialist like Shell, that could spell trouble.
