There has recently been some stiff competition between lubricant suppliers, as various new engine oils that promise enhanced durability and improved fuel economy hit the market. Castrol, Shell and FUCHS Lubricants have all shown interest in the development of new low viscosity engine oils. Mobil 1, a subsidiary of oil giant ExxonMobil, is also one of those battling it out, after launching a product called ESP x2 0W-20.
Speaking to Automotive World, Maria Maranci, Automotive Marketing Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), ExxonMobil, outlined the key aspects of the new engine oil. She also described the importance of on-going development of lubricants to help the automotive industry reach fuel economy and emissions requirements.
