The American school bus has undergone many changes in the past decade. Recently, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) initiated a school bus rebate programme, which is part of the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA). US$7m of allocated funds was made available to various companies in order to update and replace diesel school buses in operation across the country, with the hope of cutting emissions and having a positive impact on air quality.
