The expiration of the official deadline for customers to file compensation claims to General Motors for ignition switch defects has passed, bringing the total amount of compensation claims to 4,312, and the death toll to 56, as administrators of the programme continued filing through the rush of claims made just before the deadline.
The second deadline for filing was 31 January 2015, and the OEM has announced that any claims postmarked by that date are still eligible for review.
