Daimler has announced that the Mercedes-Benz engine plant in Berlin is to produce a new generation of transmission-integrated electric engines for Mercedes-Benz hybrid vehicles from 2012 onwards.
A hall with a surface area of 4,000sq m is currently being converted for production and the company is to invest around €40m (US$53.8m)
