BYD’s controversial Brazil plant to begin production in 2025

BYD’s Bahia plant has faced a probe by local watchdogs over alleged "slavery-like" conditions for construction workers. By Stewart Burnett

The Brazilian government has communicated that an upcoming BYD car plant, delayed previously due to allegations of labour abuses, will now be “fully functional” by the end of 2026. Production of cars assembled from semi-finished kits is also expected to begin within 2025.
