Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, announces today that Ödgärd Andersson will join the company as Vice President Electrics, Electronics and Chassis as of October 1. She replaces Thomas Müller who has elected to move to a new position outside the company.

Ödgärd Andersson brings a wealth of experience from the telecom industry. Before joining Volvo Cars, she worked at Ericsson for almost twenty years and held different leading roles in the area of research and development, both in Sweden and in Silicon Valley. Most recently she was Vice President and Head of Product Development within Ericsson’s Packet Core unit.

“Having been part of transforming the telecom industry from hardware to software oriented development, I believe Ödgärd is the perfect fit for our planned developments in the area of autonomous drive, connectivity and electrification,” said Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President Research and Development at Volvo Cars. “I am very happy to welcome her to Volvo Cars.”

“The car industry is transforming rapidly with new business models and partnerships,” said Ödgärd Andersson. “New software-based services, connectivity and autonomous driving will change how we use, own and experience our cars. I am very excited to join that transformation.”
