World’s most important mobility show again draws the crowds
Visitors are flocking to the 66th IAA Cars. In the first few days of the world’s most important trade fair for mobility it has already more than confirmed its reputation as a crowd-puller. By midday on Sunday well over 350,000 automobile enthusiasts had come to Frankfurt to experience the 219 world premieres and the mega-trend of digital mobility at this leading automotive exhibition. This is a rise of nearly one tenth compared with the IAA 2013.
Following the Press and Trade Days, there was an especially strong increase on the first public day. A total of 99,700 auto fans streamed into the show on Saturday, which was 15 percent more than at the IAA two years ago. Clear growth can also be seen today (Sunday).
“This is exactly how we like the show to begin: there are very many young people among the visitors at this IAA. We are very optimistic as we move into the second week of the IAA,” said Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).
The VDA organizes the IAA. In all, 1,103 exhibitors from 39 countries are presenting their new developments in the exhibition halls and on the open-air site. That is the highest number of exhibitors this century. The exhibition area totals 230,000 square meters. So far over 11,000 journalists from 106 countries have been reporting on the IAA. The show runs until September 27.
