Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (“Geely Group”) today officially delivered an initial fleet of 20 Geely GC9 sedans to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). The vehicles were provided as part of anagreement reached in October 2014, under which Geely Group will provide the MFA with 50 units of its flagship sedan to serve Ministry staff and foreign diplomatic personnel in China. The GC9 is the first vehicle to be designed and produced under Geely Auto’s new global design and engineering function.
The move comes as the Chinese government continues to encourage the use of Chinese vehicles by civil servants, including diplomatic personnel. The Geely GC9 was selected inrecognition not only of its world-class design and specifications but also of Geely Auto’s status as an iconic Chinese brand.
Designed under the guidance of Geely Auto’s Senior Vice President of Design, Peter Horbury, the GC9 blends world-class international design with uniquely Chinese aesthetics. Its long wheelbase and spacious interior make it ideal for diplomatic and business use, while cutting-edge features, including an in-carair purification system, adjustable VIP seating, automatic braking, and aheads-up display (HUD) system showing the vehicle’s speed, course andnavigation hints, offer passengers an extremely safe and comfortable ride.
