Chinese automotive and new energy giant BYD Company Ltd. and Sudanese automotive manufacturer Giad Motor Company Ltd. signed a purchase agreement for 10,000 units of BYD passenger vehicles – the largest order from an overseas market to a Chinese auto company – this Wednesday, September 2, in Beijing. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, along with Sudan’s ambassador to China, Mr. Omer Eisa Ahmed, Giad Motor Company’s General Manager Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Amin, the country’s Ministers of Industry and Transport, and other senior officials and representatives from both China and Sudan.
The 10,000 BYD vehicles to be supplied to Sudan include hybrid and gasoline models, among which, chiefly the SUV S7 and the sedan L3. This contract marks a new sales record for a Chinese Automaker to an overseas market, and consolidates BYD as a force to be reckoned with in the global automotive industry. The company’s triumph in the EV market can be seen through global EV Sales rankings, in which BYD has featured as the top EV seller for three consecutive months since May this year – ahead of Nissan and Tesla – and comes to prove the company’s commitment to state-of-the-art technology and world class quality standards, which also extend into its internal combustion product range. All vehicles comply with the strictest safety regulations and have reached the highest levels in C-NCAP testing.
At the end of the ceremony, Mr. AD Huang, BYD’s General Manager for Middle-East and Africa Auto Sales Division, expressed his satisfaction by saying: “We thank the Sudanese Government and Giad Motor for their trust and recognition of BYD’s world leading R&D, quality and management, and as a company that is committed to providing not only the best technology, but also top quality automotive products. We hope BYD cars will bring pleasure and joy to all Sudanese consumers.”
