What makes Shanghai an e-mobility leader?

Shanghai has more EVs on its streets than any other city in the world. Megan Lampinen takes a closer look at how it has attained this leadership position

China's government is determined to lead the global industry in the move towards vehicle electrification. While several regions have put forward ambitious targets, China is one of the few countries to issue official mandates. This year, for example, its New Energy Vehicles (NEV) credit system comes into force. Much like the system in place in California, this one requires electric vehicles (EVs) to account for at least 10% of any automaker's yearly sales volumes. Next year, that percentage rises to 12%.
