‘Not much headroom’ – US on course for another decline

While forecasters are predicting a decline for October sales, the SAAR remains one of the highest so far this year. By Megan Lampinen

US light vehicle sales are heading towards another month of year-on-year (YoY) decline, supporting earlier predictions of a market reaching plateau. Kelley Blue Book forecasts a 6% drop to 1.36 million units in October 2016, yielding a 17.9 million seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR). Edmunds.com expects a 6.8% decline and a 17.8 million SAAR, while J.D. Power and LMC Automotive are looking for sales of 1.347 million units and a 17.7 million SAAR.
