Toyota to vastly expand powertrain portfolio by 2021

Toyota announced that it has recently developed a new line of advanced engines and transmissions, as well as documenting further progress with its hybrid systems. Each of these will reach the market in 2017, as the Japanese OEM hopes to significantly expand its product portfolio. In total, Toyota plans to introduce 17 versions of nine different engines, ten versions of four transmissions, and ten versions of six hybrid systems between 2016 and 2021.
