Stellantis calls it quits on hydrogen fuel cells

Stellantis’ enthusiasm for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles has withered due to high costs, low demand, and a protracted viability timeline. By Will Girling

Stellantis announced on 16 July 2025 that it has officially discontinued its programme focused on developing hydrogen fuel cells. In previous years, the automaker had described the technology as an important pillar in its zero-emission propulsion roadmap, but times have changed.
