Shared and autonomous vehicles demand infrastructure design change

It's not just cars that will need to be designed differently in light of autonomous driving, but also roads and infrastructure. By Megan Lampinen

The connected, autonomous and shared transport of the future may little resemble the automotive industry today, but the supporting infrastructure could also become as unrecognisable. It is clear that infrastructure will need to be smart to support communication among vehicles and traffic lights, toll stations, bridges and buildings, but the changes could go far beyond that.
