Russia decline to snowball

December's modest sales growth was deceptive and the Russian market is now poised for a 24% decline this year

The Russian light vehicle market may have ended the year with tentative signs of sales recovery, but a hefty decline is forecast for 2015. In December 2014, sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in the country rose 2.4% to 270,653 units, according to figures from the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC). However, the revival towards the end of the year couldn't outweigh previous weakness and full year sales remained down 10.3% at 2,491,404 units.
