Recycling carbon fibre to improve LCA, supply & cost

Production of carbon fibre composites involves significant output of carbon dioxide thereby affecting the material's LCA efficiency. Recycling could be one way of bringing down the amount of CO2 produced

According to WorldAutoSteel, the automotive group of the World Steel Association, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the production of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP) average around 21-23kg per kg of the material produced. Comparatively, more conventional materials like steel and aluminium fare much better.
