New engine could improve fuel efficiency by 50%

Delphi, Achates Power and Argonne National Laboratory have teamed up to design and develop a new, fuel-efficient engine, writes Michael Nash

The US Department of Energy (DOE) is funding a research project that will be headed by Argonne National Laboratory, Achates Power and Delphi. The plan is to develop an innovative new engine that yields efficiency gains of around 50% over comparable combustion engines.
