India poised for stronger second half

The implementation of a GST, scrapping of the NCR diesel tax and widespread pay rises all bode well for the industry, writes Megan Lampinen

Tax changes and salary increases could have a big impact on India's new vehicle market. The country's light vehicle sales rose 5% year-on-year (YoY) in the first half of this year, following a 6.4% rise over the previous 12 months. While there remains some uncertainty over the future of larger diesel engines, a number of developments bode well for demand in the near future.
