Hyundai confirms luxury contender

Does Hyundai have what it takes to compete with the long-established luxury segment players?

Hyundai is looking to the luxury segment to reverse its profit slump. For years there has been talk of the OEM launching a standalone luxury brand. Back in 2010, John Krafcik, then President of Hyundai Motor America, said that the company was contemplating the creation of a sub-brand called the Genesis. At the time, he cautioned that plans hinged on the performance of the Equus model.
