Chrysler's merger with Fiat took a big bite out of first-quarter earnings, pulling down what would have been a solidly profitable quarter to a net loss of US$690m. Fiat has just reported its own first-quarter net loss of €319m (US$439m), dampened by items related to its purchase of Chrysler.
