FCA gets more than it gives with BMW-Intel-Mobileye platform

The addition of such a volume player brings scale to the consortium, but it also addresses a worrying innovation deficit at FCA. By Megan Lampinen

Like it or not, autonomous vehicles are going to dramatically reshape the automotive industry. Several big name players are investing heavily in emerging technologies to support self-driving vehicles and pairing up with other players for the expertise they don’t have in-house. Ford, General Motors, BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota and many others have all made it clear they are joining the race towards autonomy.

Fiat Chrysler (FCA) has been one of the least active on this front so far.
