Autonomous vehicle (AV) developers are claiming a victory for self-driving technology at the conclusion of the StreetWise trial. The project, led by UK self-driving technology company Five in collaboration with TRL (the UK's Transport Research Laboratory) and insurance provider Direct Line Group, claims to be one of the world’s most advanced demonstrations of AVs on public roads. The key takeaway is not so much focussed on the technical performance of the system, the miles accumulated or the number of driver disengagements, but rather the consumer confidence in these vehicles.
