Could VW’s zero-emission LatAm truck reshape electric CV production?

Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus’ 1,600-unit electric truck deal with Ambev enables the automaker to begin building a platform for future low emissions vehicles. By Jack Hunsley

As many experts in commercial vehicles (CVs) will attest, there is growing potential for electrification in the race to reduce emissions and fuel consumption in CV applications. In addition, for those looking to create a greener company image and bring in environmentally conscious consumers, this powertrain technology is becoming more popular. It comes as little surprise, therefore, that Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, along with partner Ambev, recently announced a deal which will see 1,600 VW e-Delivery trucks rolled out into service over the next five years.
