The huge sales appeal of pick-up trucks in the United States and Canada is much less apparent to buyers outside North America, particularly in Europe. The majority of pick-ups are bought by private individuals – something evident in their being lumped together with all-passenger 4x4s in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) category. Most are used only occasionally in the role for which they appear designed, as what Europeans would regard serious load-carrying commercial vehicles.
