China’s 13th Five Year Plan prioritises connectivity and EVs

The world’s biggest vehicle manufacturer wants to embrace electrified and connected technologies, but this will change the face of its manufacturing landscape. By Xavier Boucherat

China’s automotive manufacturing environment could see a radical transformation with the introduction of connected, electrified and autonomous technologies. The government is now pushing through its 13th Five Year Plan, which will guide the economy up to 2020. The new plan will look to address issues such as connectivity speeds and network availability, thus ramping up development of advanced manufacturing technology.
