Chennai floods shut down automotive production

Indian media report that the city is experiencing its worst rains in 100 years, but the forecast for the region has now been downgraded

Chennai, home to India’s largest automotive manufacturing hub, is experiencing its worst rains in 100 years. Torrential downpours have flooded the city and surrounding areas, forcing several OEMs to shut down their facilities for a third day. Inclement weather will also leave approximately 20,000 to 25,000 finished vehicles standing in yards, and on roads.
