Active safety systems reliant on software-centric design

Michael Nash takes a look at the benefits of designing active safety systems with computing software

Simulation and software packages have been used to enhance vehicle design for some time, mainly to improve aerodynamic performance or to test passive safety features. As advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) become increasingly common and more complex, software could play a greater role in the design and manufacturing processes of safer, more intelligent cars.
