The Canadian province of Québec’s 20-member EVSE consortium, Le Circuit électrique, launched in March this year, has asked the utility Hydro-Québec to coordinate a second tendering process for the deployment of publicly-accessible EV charge points, according to Canada NewsWire.

Tenders will be received up to the end of 2012, and will be assessed on price, technology, user convenience, after-sales service and québécois content. Units may be tested by Hydro-Québec’s IREQ research lab, inter alia for resistance to the Province’s severe winter climate.

Le Circuit électrique had planned for 120 public charging points to be in place by the end of 2012, but the number has now reached 150, including nearly 100 240V units at various commercial enterprises within the consortium’s membership.
