Car sales in Indonesia fell by 20% year-on-year in 2009 to 486,061 units, compared with 607,805 cars sold in 2008.
According to the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), this figure exceeded earlier forecasts, as the negative impact of the slowdown on the auto industry was less than expected.
