Samsung clinches US$16.5bn Tesla AI chip contract

The agreement will see Tesla’s AI6 chips produced at Samsung's US$40bn Texas facility, offering Samsung reprieve from mounting losses. By Stewart Burnett

Samsung Electronics has clinched a US$16.5bn deal to manufacture Tesla's next-generation AI6 chips, marking the South Korean company's largest single-customer semiconductor contract to date. The eight-year agreement, effective through 2033, sent shares up 6% and offers some much-needed relief for Samsung’s loss-making foundry division.
