Slowdown warnings emerge in Europe afer October dip

The main markets of Western Europe may be peaking in terms of volume growth, but individual performances varied widely in October. By Megan Lampinen

Europe's new vehicle market was relatively flat in October but remains on pace to end the year with single-digit growth. According to data from ACEA, passenger car registrations across the EU dipped a modest 0.02% year-on-year (YoY) to 1,104,506 units. Notably, most of the larger markets had one fewer selling day in October 2016 than in 2015. October's minor dip follows a 7.2% rise in September, which saw the strongest seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of sales since May 2009. The month before that sales were up 10%.
