Integrated approach is key to cutting emissions, says Daimler Trucks

The world’s largest truck OEM predicts testing times for the heavy-duty sector, but whilst diesel remains dominant, it's essential to look beyond the powertrain. By Xavier Boucherat

Daimler Trucks sold 502,500 vehicles in 2015, a 1.4% increase from the 2014 figure of 495,700 units, making it the largest truck OEM in the world. The company’s current heavy-duty brands include Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Fuso, BharatBenz and Western Star. The OEM is sure to play a pivotal role in ensuring the truck industry meets the increasingly rigorous demands made by governments, customers and societal pressure to lower emissions and meet fuel-economy standards.
