For years, telematics has been a niche sector dominated by mega Midwest manufactures, foreign import players, and major telcos, but with the number of cars connected to the Internet worldwide expected to grow more than six-fold to 152 million in 2020, the use of telematics in the industry is set to change.
Automotive World spoke to Marc Weiser, Founder and Managing Director of RPM Ventures, an Ann Arbor-based venture capital firm that focuses on the intersection of mobile, big data and automotive. Weiser spoke about the perks and pitfalls of the connected car – and how connectivity is changing everything – especially how people drive.
