Trump NHTSA nominee vows to help with rapid AV deployment

President Trump's nominee to lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has promised lawmakers he would craft federal rules that enabling rapid autonomous vehicle deployment while maintaining critical safety oversight. Jonathan Morrison, who served as NHTSA chief counsel during the first Trump administration, told the Senate Commerce Committee the agency “cannot sit back and wait for problems to arise” with self-driving technology.
