“Volkswagen, one of our large member companies, is appointing Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn, VDA Managing Director, Technology and Environment, to take over the coordination and management of its Research and Development division. We congratulate Dr. Eichhorn on his new post in the Volkswagen Group, which he will take up in the spring of 2016,” stressed Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).

Dr. Eichhorn became VDA Managing Director, Technology and Environment, on January 1, 2012. “He is acknowledged as an automotive expert with an extensive international track record and excellent management qualities. Over the past four years his outstanding expertise in vehicle and engine construction has greatly strengthened the association. As VDA Managing Director Dr. Eichhorn has provided important impetus, especially in the megatrend of connected and automated driving and the field of electric mobility. He has made a key contribution to increasing the drive for innovation in the German automotive industry,” Wissmann said.

“I wish to thank Dr. Eichhorn for the successful years we have had together and the very good cooperation in the VDA. I wish him the best of luck and a good start in this new and challenging appointment. I see being called to serve in the Volkswagen Group headquarters as an expression of our member companies’ appreciation of the work the VDA does. During recent years in particular there has been a growing exchange of personnel between companies and the association, and this will continue to benefit both sides in the future,” Wissmann underscored.
