U.S. News & World Report has named the 2016 Ram 1500 the Best Full-size Truck for the Money. Compared to all other full-size pickups, the Ram had the best combination of positive reviews from the automotive press and long-term value. This is the third year in a row Ram’s half-ton entry has won the award.
“At Ram, we set out to create the best trucks in the market, and this award from U.S. News acknowledges the positive quality and value equation of our Ram 1500,” said Mike Manley – Head of Ram Truck Brand, FCA Global. “In a highly competitive segment, Ram is committed to technology and innovation leadership. Proof of that commitment is a long list of best-in-class titles, including America’s most fuel-efficient full-size pickup at 29 mpg.”
The rankings are based on an in-depth analysis by U.S. News editors of all published vehicle ratings, reviews and test drives.
“The Ram 1500 gives buyers a first-class ownership experience, with a luxurious interior and performance that’s capable enough for traditional truck tasks, but comfortable enough for everyday driving,” said Jamie Page Deaton, Managing Editor – U.S. News Best Cars. “When you combine that with its low long-term ownership costs, you have a truck that easily fits into owners’ lives and their budgets.”
The Best Cars for the Money methodology combines quality and value data into a composite score. Within each of 21 categories, the vehicle with the highest score is named the Best Car for the Money in that category. Quality is measured by the overall score achieved in the U.S. News car rankings at the time the awards are published. Value is measured by five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published.
