For the third consecutive year, the Group has been recognized as a leader for its commitment to addressing climate change and the results achieved. On the basis of transparency in disclosure and performance, FCA was named as a leader in the CDP Italy 100 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) and among the top ranked companies in the Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) 2014.
FCA scored 98/100 for overall transparency in disclosure as well as being included in The A List: the CDP Climate Performance Leadership Index 2014, which includes companies that have demonstrated a superior approach to climate change mitigation. The A List includes the top 187 of nearly 2,000 listed companies which were independently assessed and ranked using CDP’s widely-respected scoring methodology.
In an increasingly competitive global environment, the Group has remained firm in its commitment to responsible leadership with concrete steps to mitigate the effects of climate change.
The principal results achieved in 2013 include:
- European leadership in natural gas vehicles, with more than a 67% share of the market
- reduced environmental footprint of Group plants worldwide, with a 15.5% decrease in CO2 emissions per vehicle produced compared with 2010, and a 35% reduction in water usage
- involvement of 127 business partners in the CDP Supply Chain program, resulting in broader application of sustainability principles and best practices throughout the supply chain
In addition, in 2012 the Group became one of just a handful of companies that actively participate in all CDP initiatives (CDP Climate Change, CDP Water, CDP Forest and CDP Supply Chain).
The results were published today in the CDP Italy 100 Climate Change Report 2014, which analyzes information on environmental impacts provided by the 100 largest listed companies in Italy and establishes a ranking of the most virtuous companies based on the principal trends.
Written for the first time by the SDA Bocconi School of Management with the scoring partner IMQ (Istituto Italiano del Marchio di Qualità), the report evaluates companies on the basis of the CDP’s scoring methodology for transparency and quality of reporting of emissions, as well as for the importance of initiatives to mitigate climate change.
