The Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) is a key objective source of information on car safety for consumers. The basis on which the Euro NCAP tests are compiled includes a variety of selected crash tests and test programmes.
In 2014, Euro NCAP raised its already high test requirements even further, incorporating additional weighting for new safety technologies as part of the ratings. These include for example autonomous emergency braking and additional safety assistance systems which can help to support safe driving and avoid accidents. After having been subjected to these demanding requirements, the C Class was not only rewarded with the best possible result of five stars, but was also categorised as the “Best in Class”. Despite the outstanding result, the assessment based on crash ratings is just one element of the safety philosophy pursued by Mercedes-Benz. Thanks to the knowledge acquired as a result of accident research conducted in house, the C-Class has also been systematically designed with real-world accidents in mind. As such, as a safety pioneer Mercedes Benz is once again highlighting the leading role which it plays in the field of automotive safety.
