DB Schenker Logistics offers a new direct connection for combined transport between Rostock, Germany and Domodossola, Italy. As an addition to the existing block network, starting on December 15th the new train will run round-trip twice a week, connecting the two important intermodal freight transport hubs. The train will travel from North to South Thursdays and Sundays and from South to North Tuesdays and Fridays. The responsible rail freight company for the whole distance is DB Schenker Rail.
“By increasing the density of our network, we offer our customers even more flexibility,” says Christian Stoll from Schenker AG, who is responsible for DB SCHENKERhangartner’s offering as Head of Intermodal. “Our new connection also stands for optimized service and better transit times on the North-South axis.”
This offers retail and industrial customers the combination of road and rail transports from one source. Pre-carriage and on-carriage are carried out on the road, and over long distances the goods travel by rail in unaccompanied combined transport. Operating in this manner even allows complex flows of goods to be managed in a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly fashion.
