On November 19, 2014 local time, the 14th International Motor Show Bogota opened at the Bogota International Business and Exhibition Center. The biennial show is the second largest of its kind in South America. This year, the show attracted 38 automakers. Chery showed up with a strong lineup of 12 models and 14 units on a 630-square-meter red-white booth, the largest among participating Chinese auto brands. These exhibits included newly-launched Chery’s new-generation SUV T21 and new-generation car M16, as well as Concept-β, a concept car which made its debut. The appearance of Concept-β made Chery the first Chinese automaker to present a concept car in the show.
Built by a design team led by renowned designers Jams Hope and Hakan Sarcoglu, Concept-β represents the future design style and trend of Chery’s SUV models. It features flexible and dynamic streamlined body, inlet grille and sound system characteristic of China. The large-sized front grille, lamps and front bumper make Concept-β powerful, the wheel trims and three-dimensional body make it more dynamic visually.
Both T21 and M16 are Chery’s new-generation models. The SUV model T21 aunched in Colombia in late September 2014. Positioned above T11-FL, it has new exterior and interior, carries a 2.0L DVVT engine and a five-shift manual transmission. Rich equipment such as dual airbags, 17in aluminum alloy hubs, ABS/EBM and reversing radar make T21 competitive among similar models. With a ultra-long wheelbase of 2,700mm, based on Chery’s new core technology platform, M16 made its debut at the show and represents Chery’s highest R & D level.
In recent years, the Colombian auto market has been prosperous and active. As one of the Chinese auto brands that entered the Colombian market earliest, Chery has also developed rapidly in Colombia and been Chinese sales champion for three consecutive years. By its great local influence, Chery got orders for over 20 units every day during the show, thus becoming the most popular Chinese brand in the show.
