Volvo Cars enters another partnership to ‘transform road safety’

A new company formed by Volvo Cars and Autoliv will soon bring autonomous driving technology to market. By Michael Nash

Suppliers and OEMs are teaming up to take on the development of autonomous driving technology. Numerous companies have pointed to 2020 as a deadline for the launch of their autonomous vehicles, and are looking to help from partners to stay ahead of the competition.

Volvo Cars and Autoliv recently announced that they are planning to set up a new jointly owned company that will specialise in developing next-generation autonomous driving software. The aim is to help meet Volvo’s medium-term goal of eliminating road fatalities by 2020 and “transform road safety.”
