Road safety has made tremendous advances over the years through a combination of greater awareness, technological development and tighter regulations. From seat belt mandates to crash test star ratings, safety agencies have been tackling the challenge from a number of angles. Proponents of automated driving suggest that removing the human driver from the picture could have a tremendous impact on the number and severity of crashes. But is all of this enough to realise Vision Zero?
